Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Gets A Release Date!

FFXIV_2.0_Concept

Square Enix has FINALLY set a release date for Final Fantasy XIV: A Real Reborn! We’ll be seeing this game making it return to PC and PlayStation 3 August 27th. The game will retail $29.99 for PC, and $39.99 for PlayStation 3. Also subscription fees have been mapped out as well. The subscription fees will start at $12.99 / £7.69 / €10.99.

For Final Fantasy XIV fans its been long and many troubled road for this game and its future developments. For Square Enix it’s been even worse. The top dogs there have said on multiple occasions that this game has single-handedly permanently damaged the Final Fantasy brand and it’s company’s reputation. Most people playing the current iteration of Final Fantasy XIV up until now have been playing it for free as restitution for how broken the game was at launch. Since then Square Enix has removed the development team that was in place and put in a team with familiarity with the franchise – the Final Fantasy XI team. And not a moment too soon.

The game has been retooled under their care (check the video above for evidence) and fans playing the beta couldn’t be happier for the most part. I’ve talked to many about the game since its rebirth and I have found none with a complaint. Well, at least not any that resemble the complaints the original FFXIV had.  Even our own Realist crew member, Mel, has expressed positive opinions towards this game. And with news of a legit release date fans have even more to be happy with! They’ve even announced a collector’s edition of the game! This edition of the game (pictured below) will retail for $79.99 on PlayStation 3 (and $69.99 on PC via Square’s online store). It will come with an 80-page art book, a bonus disc containing cinematic events that led up to the realm being reborn, a soundtrack album, five character art cards and a security token to help secure your account. Additionally, in-game bonus items the Helm of Light, a baby Behemoth non-combat pet, a Couerl Mount and Behemoth Barding are also included.
